I'm from St David's, the smallest city in Britain. However, the city and the surrounding landscape seem to inspire big ideas and creativity in the people who live here.
I work mostly with oils, as this works best, in communicating my thoughts and ideas on to canvas. I mostly use the impasto style to create my pieces, thick oil paint, put on to canvas using a palette knife.
Monochromatic style artworks also dominate my collection. There is a beauty in simplicity, a limited pallet, can produce interesting results. I am particularly drawn to figure painting, or silhouette type artworks. My choice of styles seem to change with the weather, atleast that's what I've noticed during the past few years.
My influences range from Kuffin Williams, William Turner to Banksy, each very different, but certainly key to some of my development as an artist.
I am very much drawn to the texture and the feel of thick paint. The thickness of the paint gives the finished piece a three dimensional feel and for me, brings my pieces to life.
Thick and bold strokes of paint underline most of my pieces of work. When you look at my work, you gaze onto a space, a landscape of visible brushstrokes, drawing attention to the action and materiality of the painting itself.
The themes I paint are always changing and evolving. I never quite know what's round the corner, though I do know that my passion for creating, shall continue and grow.
